Disaster Planning

W. Burns met with Ana-Marie Jones, Executive Director of Collaborating Agencies Responding to Disasters (C.A.R.D.) Dr. Burns is particularly interested in organizing agencies in West Oakland and preparing the residents of West Oakland for a disaster. Ana-Marie says many people have special needs in a disaster and these include low-income people, the developmentally disabled, the blind, non-English speaking, seniors, medically fragile, pregnant women, undocumented, mobility impaired, frail elderly, homeless, infants and children, deaf and people with disabilities. Dr. Burns has invited Ms. Jones to come and speak at the May 22,2006 meeting of West Oakland Community Collaborative.
