Theatre news: Mack gets funding
Great news! We have just received notice from the City of Oakland’s Cultural Funding Program that our grant request for support of our upcoming October 2006 production of Shakespeare in the Yard, “Mack” has been recommended for funding, a $3,950 grant, 100% of what we requested. Josh Shipper and I were present at the evaluation session and our proposal was well received.
We have also received a $1,000 grant from the Clorox Foundation to support this play.
This play, an adaptation of Macbeth by Ayodele Nzinga, who also directed it, was produced by Prescott-Joseph Center for Community Enhancement. It was presented in Richmond in January, 2006 at the request of Richmond city officials and its anti-violence committee.
We are in the process of adapting the promotional video that we produced about this play for use on the web. Look for it soon!
